NSA teams set for state tournament

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will have five teams competing in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state tournaments.

NSA will have a full slate of teams competing starting Tuesday afternoon. The road to state championships will be decided this week for multiple teams. The softball, baseball, boys’ and girls’ lacrosse and girls’ soccer teams are all set to compete.

Three teams will host games at NSA due to being higher seeds. The NSA softball team will have the No. 2 seed in its tournament, while the boys’ lacrosse and girls’ soccer teams will have the No. 3 seeds. All three teams will host games between Tuesday and Wednesday.

The baseball team and girls’ lacrosse team will head on the road as the No. 5 seeds in their tournaments.

The boys’ lacrosse team will host Highland School at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the softball team will host Seton School. On the road, the baseball team will take on Steward School at 4:30 p.m., and the girls’ lacrosse team will take on Steward School at 5 p.m.

On Wednesday, the girls’ soccer team will host the winner of North Cross School and Randolph Macon Academy at 5 p.m. Last season, NSA had three teams finish within the final four.
