The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball team took a 4-1 loss to Isle of Wight Academy Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Saints have dropped three of their last four games. They split the season series with IWA, having won 10-0 back in March.
IWA scored in the first inning to go up 1-0 before NSA came back and tied it up at one in the second inning off of a fielder’s choice from Addy Greene. IWA had strong fourth and fifth innings to take the lead back and seal the deal.
Reese Byrd pitched a complete game for the Lady Saints and took the loss. She allowed seven hits. From the plate, NSA had three hits as a team.
Mackenzie Wooten pitched a complete game for IWA, and she struck out six. Anya Colyer went 3-4 with two RBIs from the plate for IWA.
In the most recent state poll, NSA and IWA were ranked second and third, respectively.
The Lady Saints have a couple more regular season games left before they head to the conference tournament and the postseason.
