The Suffolk Economic Development Authority will consider sending out bids for grounds maintenance services on an as-needed basis for four sites in the city at its March 13 meeting.
The four sites include the Suffolk Industrial Park, Northgate Commerce Park, Wilroy Industrial Park and the former Obici Hospital site at 1900 N. Main St.
The contract would run from May 1 through Oct. 30, 2020, with the city reserving the option to renew the contract for two additional one-year periods that would end by Oct. 31, 2022. Contractors would have to provide all labor, materials, transportation, equipment, licenses, permits or anything else that would be needed to provide grounds maintenance services at the four sites, according to draft language in the request for proposal.
The RFP outlines specific needs for each location that the contractor would have to meet. According to the draft RFP, bids would be due by April 3.
At the meeting, the EDA will discuss the results of the Community Business Launch Pitch Night Competition held in January that awarded Suffolk Business Launch Competition grants to several businesses, including Brick and Mortar Brewing Company and the SPARC Shoppe, which received $15,000 each, the Groundworks Bar and Bistro, which received $10,000, and Elizabeth and Maude Boutique, which received $5,000.
The EDA will also discuss the 2018 year in review, elect officers and review marketing activity reports for the city and for the Hampton Roads Economic Development Association.
The meeting will be held at 4 p.m. in the City Council Conference Room, 442 W. Washington St.
