NSA advances to TCIS semis

It was close, but the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls’ basketball team was able to advance in Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools tournament with a 43-40 win over Norfolk Academy.

The home win Tuesday night set them up for a semifinals matchup with Bishop Sullivan Catholic School for Thursday evening.

NSA started off with a 10-7 lead after the first quarter. They also went into the half with a slight 20-15 lead. The third quarter took a turn in Norfolk Academy’s favor as they outscored the Lady Saints 16-9, which led to Norfolk Academy taking the lead heading into the fourth quarter. Both teams battled it out in the fourth, with NSA advancing. Alivia Giles and Cammy Reid added 13 points each.

The TCIS semifinal and championship games will be play at Hampton Roads Academy. NSA and Bishop Sullivan will tip off at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night. If the Lady Saints win, they will play at HRA at 2 p.m. Saturday.
