Following are this week’s nominees for the Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

• Aaron Whear, senior, Nansemond River High School wrestling: Whear won an individual regional championship for the runner-up Warriors.
• Corey Hasson, senior, Lakeland High School swimming: Hasson broke the school record at the Class 3 Region A championship swim meet with times of 53.23 and 1:01.00 in the 100-yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke.
• Laura Cornette, sophomore, Suffolk Christian Academy basketball: Cornette scored 16 points in a Lady Knights win over Gateway Christian Academy.
• Alexis Banks, senior, King’s Fork High School basketball: Banks had 13 points and 12 rebounds in the Lady Bulldogs win over the rival Lady Cavs.
