Nancy Polk Woolford died on Jan. 30, 2019, in Jacksonville, Fla. She was born in Santa Fe, N.M. She was the daughter of the late Lucy and Austin Woolford.

Miss Woolford’s education began at the Chuckatuck School. She graduated from St. Agnes in Alexandria and later from the University of South Florida. Her regular employment began as a hairdresser and ended with a career as a social worker for the State of Florida. She lived in New Mexico, Virginia, Colorado and Florida, but home was always Chuckatuck/Sandy Bottom.

“Polkey” would like to be remembered as one who had a wonderful pilgrimage, enjoyed most every stop along the way and is most grateful to family and friends who journeyed with her. She’ll be among the throng waiting at Heaven’s Gate to greet all her loved ones, especially Brenda Raine, Arthur and Eloise Raine, Jack and Lina Byrd, Austin and Mary Hart Darden, Catherine R.
