The Lakeland High School boys’ basketball team took its sixth loss of the season Tuesday night against Oscar Smith High School.
The Cavs drew a tough matchup at home when they took on Oscar Smith. Coming into the game, Oscar Smith was at first place in the Southeastern District and had only one loss to its name. Lakeland was looking to bounce back after a loss to Western Branch High School, who many widely regard as the top two teams in the SED.
Lakeland fell behind quickly, going down 10 in the first quarter with an 18-8 score. The second quarter was all Lakeland as they started to climb back into the game, going into halftime down only seven. But in the second half, Oscar Smith held all of the momentum, taking the win 79-56.
The Cavs did have three players hit double figures, with Keimari Artis leading the way with 17 points. Clint Wright Jr. added 13 points, and Quentin Livingston pitched in 12.
Lakeland will get a chance to bounce back at home at 7 p.m. Friday night against Great Bridge High School.
