Throw down with your resolutions

Morgan Memorial Library will bring a slew of New Year’s resolutions to its latest Throwdown Thursday this week. The monthly series offers activities for adults to have fun, socialize, meet new people and be active in their community, according to Community Services Librarian Matt Thompson.
This one will allow participants to tackle some of the most popular resolutions on everyone’s to-do list. There will be a station with photographs of different healthy foods to make different, photographic combinations for healthier eating this year.
Another station will feature a tai chi video for people to get a jump start on exercising, and another will have people learn a new skill by saying “hello.”
“I’ve researched ways to say ‘hello’ in 10 different languages, so people can practice saying ‘hello’ in a new language,” Thompson said.
Other activities will serve as ice breakers, help participants get more sleep with scented lavender and more. Thompson said it’s about providing activities that are relevant to the community.
“The idea is to keep it current and relevant to what’s happening now,” he said, and right now, people are trying to stick to their resolutions.
The event will be this Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Morgan Memorial Library, 443 W. Washington St. Visit suffolkpubliclibrary.com or call 514-7323 for more information.
