Three displaced in fire

Three people were displaced in a residential fire Monday morning.
The fire in the 300 block of Carolina Road was reported at 8:59 a.m., and the first units arrived on scene at 9:02 a.m., according to a city press release.
Arriving units found heavy smoke showing from the roof and attic area of the two-story residence, according to the release. The fire was contained to the attic and marked under control at 9:23 a.m.
The home had been renovated into two apartments. One adult on the first floor and two on the second floor were displaced and will be assisted by the American Red Cross, the release stated. The residence sustained water and smoke damage.
The Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the cause of the fire.
