Dennis S. Parker

Dennis S. Parker, 63, of Cummings Drive transitioned suddenly on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was born on April 16, 1955, to the late Booker T. Parker and Mattie Mae Parker.

He was a 1973 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. As a member of Tabernacle Christian Church, he served in the Male Chorus and Combined Choir. Dennis was an employee at Kraft Heinz/Planters at the time of his death, completing 45 years of service to this monumental place here in downtown Suffolk. He worked different capacities including but not limited to team leader, forklift driver, blanching operator and maintenance in 113 Blanching Department.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Lillie Mae Parker; two daughters, Gladys Orien Parker and LaRhonda Outlaw; three sons, Michael V. Parker, Tyrone Parker (Desiree) and Clarence Whitley; four sisters, Beverly Jackson, Mary L. Cross, Dorothy L. Watkins (Osceola) and Barbara A. Peterson (Michael); two brothers, Larry D. Parker (Denise) and Terry A. Parker (Gloria); uncle, Robert Carter; 10 grandchildren; best friend, Frank Lowther; a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Bishop Carlton Upton Sr. will deliver the message of comfort. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional service with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
