‘Fabulous Equinox’ coming soon

The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts will host the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra on Nov. 30 for its “Great American Holiday” show.
Jeremy Davis, Clay Johnson and their 11-piece big band orchestra will perform Christmas favorites and classics from the Rat Pack-era of music and more. There will also be a salute to the military in honor of Veterans Day earlier this month, according to the press release.
“This will be marvelous (musically) in addition to the vocals,” said SCCA Development Coordinator Susan Stone. “Jeremy is quite a saxophone player himself and gets into the band quite a bit.”
Davis, a Louisiana native, led various bands on more than 200 road shows annually before forming the Equinox Orchestra with Johnson, whose own musical passion was developed through more than 1,000 concerts, musicals and shows across the country, according to the press release.
Whether it’s Ray Charles, Elvis or Frank Sinatra, this big-band orchestra is a hit with audiences of many different tastes.
“We’re just a wide path of amazing music,” Davis said. “All orchestrated beautifully for the big band, (and) all with a special Louisiana spice to it.”
The group is excited to bring its holiday-tinged playlist to the downtown Suffolk venue, where they can really connect with an audience in a relatively smaller venue compared to some of their recent shows.
“I think, for my money, it’s always a better show when you can connect with the audience, see each other’s faces, hear their stories and laugh. It really is an experience.”
The show will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at the center, 110 W. Finney Ave. Tickets are $25 and $35. Suffolk Center members at the Sponsor level and above receive a 10 percent discount on tickets.
Tickets may be purchased online at suffolkcenter.org, by calling 923-0003 or by visiting the center in person.
