The Bennett’s Creek Warriors junior varsity football will play in the regional championship game this weekend.
Last week, the Warriors traveled to North Carolina to play in the regional tournament. They took on the North Raleigh Bulldogs and won 19-6. The win will put them in the regional championship next weekend, Nov. 24 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
“It was a great day for football,” Coach Ricky Cambridge said. “The Warriors showed up and showed out. We had a lot of support that came along with us to support the boys in their victory.”
Cambridge said he and his coaching staff stressed to their players to have fun. He was proud of the way the players responded and how his assistants coached as well.
As the Warriors continue to prepare for the regional finals, they will also continue to fundraise. If anyone wants to donate to the BC Warriors, they will be taking donations at the following locations in Suffolk this weekend:
- Nov. 16 — 7-Eleven on Godwin Boulevard from 5 to 8 p.m.
- Nov. 17 — 7-Eleven on Godwin Boulevard from 9 a.m. to noon
- Nov. 17 — Barton Ford on North Main Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Nov. 18 — Belk on North Main Street from noon to 3 p.m.
“We need the community support to continue to help our BC Warriors,” Cambridge said. “We want to reach our goal to travel to Florida for a chance at a Division III Pop Warner National Football Championship.”
