Melissie McDonald Powers

Elder Melissie McDonald Powers, born on June 29, 1927, was called by her Heavenly Father to eternal life on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018. Elder Powers was predeceased by her husband, Moses Bonner Powers.

She leaves to cherish memory four daughters, Bonita (Ricky) Otey, of Chesapeake, Debora Powers, of Norfolk, Dr. Vivian Powers, of Bowie, Md., and Hope Powers, of Chesapeake; three sons, Moses Bonner Powers Jr., of Charlotte, N.C., Maurice Powers, of Norfolk, and Terry (Shelia) Powers, of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren, Damon Scott (Paulita) Powers, Stacie (Jason) Scott, Stephanie (Vonda) Otey, Maranatha Mosby, Hannah Powers, Terry Powers Jr., Corey Powers and Brandon Powers; a host of great-grandchildren; brother, Willis McDonald, of Flushing, N.Y.; sister, Lewiska Reid, of Suffolk; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The celebration of Elder Powers’ life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at Greater Sweet Beulah Holiness Church, 137 Maple St., Suffolk, VA 23434. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Condolences and/or flowers may be sent to Crocker Funeral Home Inc., 900 E. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434.
