The driver of a tractor-trailer was airlifted with serious injuries following a crash on Holland Road Saturday morning.

The overturned tractor-trailer was the only vehicle involved in the accident, which was reported at 8:24 a.m., according to a city press release. It happened in the 6200 block of Holland Road eastbound.

The driver was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The roadway was expected to be closed for at least two hours while crews investigated and cleaned up the scene.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted through downtown Holland, with Public Works assisting with traffic control.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
