Community Electric Cooperative has tree crews on standby for the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
The electric company is working with their statewide association to secure additional support and resources from other Virginia electric cooperatives.
“We have implemented a plan of action to coordinate our response to the anticipated severe weather. We have been in contact with our statewide association to have additional resources and support on standby from other Virginia electric cooperatives should they be needed,” Chief Operations Officer Jonathan Thompson said in a press release Tuesday. “Tree crews are on standby for the aftermath in addition to equipment and materials being readied as we face the possibility of wide-spread outages and damage throughout our service territory.”
The company is monitoring the storm closely to ensure that their service can be as reliable as possible.
They urge residents to stay away from downed power lines, fallen trees on lines or anything other obstruction touching power lines.
