Family of five displaced by fire

A residential structure fire displaced a family of five Monday evening in the 80 block of Stacey Drive.
Emergency Communication was alerted of the fire at 10:13 p.m. and Suffolk Fire and Rescue were on scene at 10:17 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke from the second floor and the roof of the Parker-Riddick Village Apartment building, according to a press release.
The occupants of the apartment had evacuated prior to Suffolk Fire and Rescues arrival, and other units on either side of the apartment were evacuated during the incident. The fire was contained to the room of origin and smoke damage only affected the upper floor, according to a press release.
One adult and four juveniles were displaced and will receive assistance from the American Red Cross. There were no injuries.
Responding units included Engines 1, 2, 3, and 4, Ladders 3 and 6, Rescue 1, Medic 3, EMS 1, Safety 1, Battalion 1 and the Fire Marshal.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and the Fire Marshal’s Office will be investigating.
