In a week’s span, Sugar Rodgers has moved two places all-time in three-pointers for the New York Liberty.
It hasn’t taken long for the King’s Fork High School and Georgetown University graduate to keep soaring up the rankings. Last week, she moved up to fifth all-time before surpassing that and moving up to fourth this week.
In the Liberty’s matchup against the Washington Mystics on Saturday, Rodgers tied her season high in points with 16. Twelve of them came from 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the three-point line to go with perfect shooting on all four free-throw attempts.
Those four three-pointers lifted her past Cappie Pondexter with 237 three-pointers and counting. To move up to third all-time, she will have to pass Shameka Christon, who has 288.
Rodgers has dealt with some injuries this season but had a memorable 2017 season. She was a WNBA All-Star and was named the Sixth Woman of the Year. She is known as one of the top three-point shooters in the WNBA, as she competed in the three-point contest last season.
