Delores D. Parker

Delores D. Parker, a native of Suffolk, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at her residence in Richmond. She was born on Oct. 9, 1930 in Suffolk to the late David and Inez Gray DeLoatch.

Delores graduated from East Suffolk High School in 1949 and briefly attended Elizabeth City State College. Delores received her Practical Nursing diploma from Medical College of Virginia (now VCU Health System), where she retired after 30 years of service. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Thurman L. Parker; daughter, Sharon P. Parker; and siblings, David Wadell Sr., Edward, Quincy, Arminta and Grace; niece, Dr. Sandra J. DeLoatch, and nephews, David DeLoatch Jr. and Johnny DeLoatch Sr.

Delores is survived by daughters, Valerie and Karon Parker; grandson, Marcus J. Parker; sister, Dr. Vasti DeLoatch, all of Richmond; sister-in-law, Virginia Parker, of Suffolk; brother-in-law, Lloyd Parker Sr., of Bowie, Md.; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and extended family.

A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Fourth Baptist Church, 2800 P St., Richmond, VA 23223. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
