A Suffolk man was arrested Thursday after Virginia State Police say he abducted two women and led police on a pursuit.
Terry Rahkeem Bly, 28, is in custody and facing several criminal charges, according to Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya.
Shortly before 2:28 a.m. Thursday, Virginia State Police Communications Center received a 911 call from a female pedestrian on Interstate 264 at Frederick Boulevard in Portsmouth. She said she had been abducted at gunpoint in her vehicle but was able to jump out of the moving vehicle, Anaya stated in a press release.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they obtained the description of the vehicle and the suspect. He was driving a 1997 Lexus sedan, Anaya stated.
A trooper in the Frederick Boulevard area of Chesapeake spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop, the release stated. The driver ran a red light and fled the scene. The pursuit ended when the driver drove down a dead end and wrecked the vehicle in the area of Palmer and Columbus and fled on foot.
There were no injuries, Anaya stated. What happened to the other woman is still under investigation, she added.
The investigation is still ongoing, and charges are currently pending, Anaya stated.
