Knitters to gather in Sleepy Hole Park

Knit in Public Day is right around the corner and a new Suffolk yarn arts store, Stitch Please, will host an event at Sleepy Hole Park.
From 1 to 5 p.m. June 9, knitters can join together to work on projects at Sleepy Hole Park, 4700 Sleepy Hole Road.
“All the knitting stuff is always on the other side of Hampton Roads, and I hate traveling out there,” said Meghan Cosby, owner of Stitch Please.
This event is open to beginners as well as those who have been knitting for years, and it’s an opportunity for knitters in the community to get to know one another. Cosby encourages everyone to bring families, because there is a playground for kids to play.
“I’ve had a lot of people that seem interested. I’m a part of a few knitting groups, and I’ve put fliers up in local businesses,” Cosby said.
Along with the chance to hang out with other knitters, Cosby will be bringing some of the stock she has from her store in case anyone wants to purchase new yarn.
Most of her yarn is provided by indie dyers who hand-dye all their own yarn.
Cosby will also be bringing her own projects to work on, though she intends to walk around and meet everyone first.
“It will be fun for everyone and fun for me to talk to the people and meet the people,” Cosby said.
