Arrest made in robbery

Suffolk police arrested a suspect following a Wednesday night robbery.
The robbery was reported at 9:18 p.m. from the Dollar Tree in the 900 block of North Main Street, according to a city press release.
Preliminary investigation found that a white male approached the register, seemingly to pay for an item, but then implied he had a weapon and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied, and the suspect fled the store with an undetermined amount of currency.
There were no injuries.
Based on video surveillance, the suspect was identified as Timothy Shawn Colyer, 35, of Suffolk, according to the press release. A vehicle seen parked in front of the business was also identified as belonging to Colyer.
Detectives began their search for the vehicle, and Colyer was apprehended in the 600 block of East Washington Street following a brief pursuit, the release stated.
Colyer is charged with robbery and use of display firearm in the commission of a felony, the release stated. He is currently being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
