Essay contest winners announced

The Suffolk Constantia Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently announced winners of its two essay contests.
One of the contests is for high school students, and one is for elementary and middle school students. They are open to students from public, private and homeschools in the Suffolk and Franklin areas.
There were 18 essays received, 10 from elementary and middle schools and eight from high schools.
The winners were as follows:
Topic: “World War I: Remembering the War to End All Wars”
- Katherine Conrod, a fifth-grader at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy
- Molly Simpson, a sixth-grader at Nansemond Suffolk Academy
Topic: “Christopher Columbus: Advantages and Disadvantages of Working Relationships Between Foreign Parties”
- Christa Collins, a sophomore at Suffolk Christian Academy
- Trinity McRae, a junior at Lakeland High School
