The Virginia Department of Forestry said this weekend it was confident the wildfire spotted Friday afternoon off Holland Road had been extinguished.
“Plow lines were full of water, and there was minimal fuel,” city spokeswoman Diana Klink wrote in an email on Saturday afternoon.
The fire was reported about 4:25 p.m. Friday, when a pilot flying overhead spotted smoke. About 25 acres had burned as of Friday evening.
The cause was believed to be a lightning strike from Thursday evening’s heavy thunderstorms.
