Train derails near neighborhood

Suffolk police and firefighters are on the scene of a train derailment near the 300 block of Baron Boulevard at Shoulders Hill Road, according to a city press release.
The derailment was reported at 4:11 p.m. A total of eight cars and one engine were involved, according to a city press release, and the cause is not currently known.
There were no injuries and no hazardous materials involved, and no evacuations were required, according to the press release.
Nansemond Parkway remains open, and detour signs are being set up to detour traffic through the Suffolk Meadows neighborhood, the press release stated.
Commonwealth Railway Inc. will handle the cleanup.
