Part of Godwin Boulevard was closed Tuesday afternoon as crews cleaned up a hazardous materials spill.
Preliminary investigation found that a Valley Proteins open-top tractor-trailer braked for a vehicle in front of it, causing the load to shift and part of the contents, including animal renderings, spilling out onto the roadway, according to a city press release.
“The spill poses no danger to the public,” the press release stated.
The eastbound right lane and right turn lane on Godwin Boulevard onto Centerbrooke Lane were closed for part of the evening.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue was on scene.
