Suffolk Fire and Rescue has responded to the scene of a ruptured gas line in the 2400 block of Red Oak Lane in the Cedar Lake Shores neighborhood.
Virginia Natural Gas crews have also responded to the scene, and preliminary investigation determined a contractor ruptured a gas service line while working the area.
There have been no injuries, but three nearby residences have been evacuated, according to Captain James Broglin.
Both Red Oak Lane, in the 2400 block, and Cherry Blossom Drive are closed to thru traffic.
