A North Carolina man died in a single-vehicle crash on Hosier Road Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened in the 1100 block of Hosier Road and was reported at 2:28 p.m., according to a city press release.

Malik Jaque Wills, 23, of Elizabeth City, was pronounced dead at the scene, the press release stated. He was a passenger and was ejected from the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation found that the four-door Honda sedan was traveling northbound on Hosier Road when it left the roadway and traveled over an embankment before coming to rest, the press release stated.

The driver and three additional passengers were taken by ground ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital suffering from serious injuries, the release stated.

The roadway was closed throughout the afternoon and evening due to the ongoing investigation. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, the press release stated.
