Exclusive Touch will have a concert this Friday at Union Baptist Missionary Church featuring different gospel quartets and the “Queen of Gospel.”
“We are going to come together for fellowship first and have a great time with the Lord,” said owner of Exclusive Touch Elonda Goodwin. “Then we will have good gospel music and spend time networking and promote one another.”
The music for the night features Dr. Peggy Britt, The Brothers in Christ, Maurice Yancey and One Accord, Doc McKenzie and the Hi-Lites and The Tabernacle Baptist Outreach Church Male Chorus.
Dr. Peggy Britt is a native of Portsmouth, and she has been involved in ministry for the last 40 years. Britt was also a music teacher for Norfolk Public Schools for a number of years, according to Goodwin.
The Brothers in Christ are a group made up of eight men, and their style ranges from traditional to contemporary. The group was originally organized in 1996, and the group has been involved in ministry for 23 years.
Maurice Yancey and One Accord has roots in Suffolk. Goodwin describes their sound as more contemporary.
Doc McKenzie and the Hi-Lites, the event’s special guest, are from South Carolina, and they are a traditional gospel quartet. They are the No. 1 quartet in the nation, according to Goodwin.
The Tabernacle Baptist Male Chorus is from Suffolk’s own Tabernacle Baptist Outreach Church.
There will be vendors selling their own goods at the concert as well. Vendors will have jewelry, men’s accessories, desserts and T-shirts. The bands performing will also have their own merchandise for sale at the event, including CDs and DVDs.
Devon and Demitria Mickey will be the hosts for the evening. The two bring a little comedy to their ministry, said Goodwin.
There will also be plenty of giveaways for those that attend the concert. Goodwin will have tickets to upcoming gospel concerts in the area, a women’s empowerment book and CDs and DVDs of other gospel artists.
Tickets are available for purchase online on eventbrite.com for $20 or at the door for $25. Goodwin can be contacted for tickets at 537-6531 or exclusivetouch@gmail.com.
