Football coach Mike Biehl is back with Nansemond-Suffolk Academy after announcing in February that he had accepted a coaching job with another school.
Biehl had accepted a job to coach at First Colonial High School in his hometown of Virginia Beach. Due to some unforeseen issues, he is back at NSA.
“The circumstances of the position changed, and I am just so excited about having the opportunity to continue to lead the NSA football program as well as to be able to teach and add to the positive community here,” Biehl stated.
“We are thrilled that coach Biehl will continue to remain a part of the Saints family as a teacher in the classrooms, as a football coach and as a mentor in the Sandra F. Birdsong Center for Academic Excellence,” the school stated in a press release. “Coach Biehl’s ability to connect with our students, faculty and fans has us excited for his return. We look forward to watching him continue to build on these relationships and to further develop our students on and off the field.”
In two seasons Biehl went 10-10 with NSA. After going 4-6 his first season, the team improved to 6-4 in his second season. Biehl said in February that it had been a tough decision to accept the other job.
Now, however, Biehl returns for what will be his second full off season with the Saints after being hired late in the offseason in 2016.
