The Saints baseball team won its second game in a row Friday afternoon.
The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy baseball team took on Windsor High School at home Friday afternoon and got its second win in a row. With a 3-2 victory, NSA brought its season record to 5-6. Colby Owens pitched all seven innings Friday to earn the win, allowing four hits and two runs.
“Colby threw a complete game, and that was the best I’ve seen from him this year,” NSA coach Joey Seal said. “I’m really proud of him, because he has worked hard, and he had been hungry for a good outing. It was really good to see that happen for him.”
Seal has mentioned previously that you are only good as your starting pitcher, and he felt the Saints played well.
“We were able to take some momentum from the HRA game and carry it over,” Seal said. “I told the guys we have to take it one game at a time. I have been impressed with the growth we have shown for the last three or four games.”
NSA scored all three of its runs in the third inning. Four different Saints had hits, and Kieran Conway had a double while Will Rice had a triple.
The Saints will face Norfolk Academy at home at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
