Warriors take down Cavs

The Warriors baseball team won the first matchup with Lakeland High School for this season.
Nansemond River High School baseball took their home matchup against Lakeland 9-5. After the teams were tied 2-2 after the first inning, the Warriors separated themselves by building a lead over the next couple of innings.
Cameron Pittman and Bryson Dansberry each scored two runs for the Warriors Tuesday evening. Jonathan Savage went 3-3 with one run and two RBIs.
Daulton Manning and Zach Cain handled pitching duties for the Warriors. Manning earned the win after striking out six. Andrew Kelley and Tyler Spencer handled pitching duties for Lakeland, with Kelley taking the loss.
For Lakeland, Spencer notched multiple hits for the Cavs, with five different Cavs scoring runs Tuesday evening. Josh Bennett added a double. Nansemond River will face King’s Fork High School on the road at 5:30 p.m. Friday, while Lakeland will face Indian River High School on the road at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
