Bulldog soccer focuses on chemistry

The King’s Fork High School boys’ soccer team is looking to improve on last season.

The season is still early, and many teams haven’t been able to practice or play due to the weather. It has been no different for King’s Fork; however, they are excited to be back on the field, in general, this season.

They have only played in one regular season game so far, but coach Michel Bile’ is feeling good about where his team is at the moment.

“We won our scrimmage and our regular season game, so we are feeling good about where things are headed,” he said.

The Bulldogs return most of their core players, who will make for solid junior and senior leaders. Caleb Harris, Ganesh Thapa and Jean-Mathias Bile’ all return as the captains for the Bulldogs this season. Harris and Thapa both play midfield, while Bile’ returns at the forward position. Ty Summers also returns as the striker.

“We want to be on the same page as much as possible this season and continue to build our chemistry,” Coach Bile’ said. “Sometimes you can do your own thing, and players can get upset with one another. We just want to continue to build our team chemistry and energy and be on the same page.”

Even though the Bulldogs are 1-0 at the moment, Bile’ wants to see his team have more possession passes during the game. Overall, they feel they will be a better team than they were last season. With no conferences this year, the team feels confident in its ability to be able to advance to the regional playoffs while having to compete against good competition in the Southeastern District.

“We are still playing all those teams once, unless we may see another team again in regionals,” Bile’ said. “As we go against some these bigger classes in the SED, we should be able to compete with them.”

The more wins King’s Fork gets against the Class 5 and Class 6 schools, the better their power points will be for the postseason. King’s Fork will face Tallwood High School at home at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
