Congrats to Warriors

The name of Nansemond River High School has come to be known and feared by track and field athletes and coaches nationwide.
Team WAR has been so dominant at the conference, regional and state levels lately that athletes and teams from other schools know they’re merely running for silver when the Warriors show up. Now, even teams from across the country are getting the message that the Warriors can’t be beat.
The team brought home two national titles from the New Balance Indoor Nationals meet over the weekend.
The boys’ 4×200 team of Jevon Waller, Daiqwuan Faircloth, Jacob Nixon and Kevin Johnson took the gold with a time of 1:27.11, which was the 10th-fastest time in U.S. history.
Team WAR also earned a national title in the mixed 4×400 relay and set a new national record in the process. That team was made up of Waller and Faircloth as well as female sprinters Kori Carter and Tre’Breh Scott-McKoy.
In addition, the girls’ 4×200 team including Scott-McKoy and Carter as well as Brene Donaldson and Asia Crocker took second with the fourth-fastest time in U.S. history.
There’s obviously something special about the Nansemond River High School Warriors. To see this level of success and such blazingly fast speeds from one school at the same meet is almost unheard of.
We suspect great coaching and hard work and dedication on the part of the athletes might have something to do with it. But let’s not let the secret out, lest other teams catch on.
Congratulations to the Nansemond River High School track and field team. We expect to see many more great things from them in the upcoming outdoor season and the years to come.
