Former Bulldog standout Davon Grayson took part in the NFL combine over the weekend.
A Suffolk native was on full display in one of the NFL’s biggest events of the year. Hundreds of the nation’s top prospects get invited to the combine each year for weigh-ins, positional drills and formal 15-minute interviews with NFL teams.
Grayson tested well among the wide receivers. He finished with 19 reps of 225 pounds on the bench, ran a 4.52 in the 40-yard dash and measured in at 6 feet even and 199 pounds with a wingspan of 73 6/8.
There is still more than a month until the draft. Usually, in that time span, players go on personal visits to NFL teams and work out. With a good showing over the next month, Grayson could be the second Suffolk native to hear his name called in as many years. Chuck Clark, also of King’s Fork, was drafted in 2017 in the sixth round.
Grayson finished his senior season with 59 catches for 886 yards and six touchdowns and an honorable mention in the American Athletic Conference for East Carolina University last season. The NFL draft will be April 26-28.
