City officials and church leadership cut the ribbon on Tuesday to officially welcome Hub757 to the North Suffolk community.

The $10.1-million, multi-purpose facility is the new home of the Believers Church congregation. The space has already been busy since winter with hundreds of people stopping by for corporate training and exciting wedding receptions.

The event center is about a 10-minute drive from the church’s former location on Peek Trail in Chesapeake. Services will be held in a slick auditorium that can seat 1,000 worshippers.

The church’s Oak & Lily Academy preschool, kindergarten and before- and after-school care already bring children for classes and the play areas. There are also spaces specialized for children with special needs, and others can be reserved by therapists for individualized therapy.

Senior Pastor Jamey Stuart said that the decision was made early on to build the new church as a state-of-the-art venue.

“It’s not just our space,” Stuart said. “Our hopes and prayers are that this will be used by the entire community.”

Hub757 offers more than 28,000 square feet of flexible function space for weddings, banquets, meetings, parties and numerous other occasions.

Brides and grooms will enjoy ceremony and reception space for up to 500 guests with a state-of-the-art sound system.

Banquets will be prepared onsite in the catering kitchen. Businesses in need of a new conference location can take advantage of technology throughout the building, along with dining and shopping off Harbour View Boulevard.

“This is a good venue to have different organizations come together within the Harbour View community,” said Bill Pollard, senior vice president of Virginia Commonwealth Bank.

Mayor Linda Johnson commented on how far the site has come since the groundbreaking in August 2016. This “gift” is for businesses and citizens in North Suffolk and beyond, she said.

“It’s all about the people, businesses, churches and everyone else in our community coming together to make this a wonderful place,” she said.
