Patricia Ann Porter

Patricia Ann “Telephone Lady” Porter was born on Jan. 20, 1960, in Suffolk.
She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1978. She retired from Suffolk Public Schools after 32 years of service as a cafeteria manager and was shortly employed by Copeland Drive-In as an assistant manager.
She was a member of Balm of Gilead Baptist Church.
She gained her wings peacefully on Feb. 17, 2018, in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was predeceased by her parents, George Cross Sr. and Effie Cross; her daughter, LaTasha Dickens-Williams; and her grandson, Brycen Williams.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband of 18 years, Eric Porter; two daughters, Melisa “Cocoa” Boone (Troy) and Whitney Wilson (Curtis), both of Suffolk; two sons, Toreanno Marshall (LaCretia) and Kyle Langlois; son-in-law, Toney Williams; 21 grandchildren, Jalisa, Jamoni, Jamari, Jabari, Jamontai, Jayceon, J’Nas, Levin, Da’mon, Whishes, KyGee, Madsen, Semaj, Harmoni, Tonisha, Toreanno Jr., Elijah, Kari, King, Kyson, Karleigh and Shamar; one great-granddaughter, JaNiyah; siblings, Joyce Ford (Raleigh) and George Cross Jr., of Suffolk, Chris Cross (Marilyn) and Ronnie Cross (Stacey), of North Carolina; special cousin, Paula Majette; nieces, Tonya and Michelle; friends, Mary Worrell and Willie Davis; goddaughter Denise Barnes; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at 921 Lake Kennedy Drive, Suffolk.
Mrs. Porter’s visitation will take place from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at noon Saturday at Balm East Campus, and she will be entombed at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
