Pender & Coward announces new lawyers

Pender & Coward has announced that attorneys Kevin Hubbard and Ben Hubbard have joined the firm. Due to the firm’s expanding practice, Pender & Coward relocated its Chesapeake office to 709 Greenbrier Parkway, Suite B, Chesapeake, on Feb. 1.

Kevin Hubbard is a firm shareholder focusing his practice in the areas of personal injury, workers’ compensation, civil litigation and real estate. He routinely advises injured workers before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission. He also has experience closing multimillion-dollar real estate transactions and counseling corporate clients on contract and other business matters.

Kevin Hubbard received his undergraduate degree from Hampden-Sydney College and his Juris Doctor from University of Richmond’s T.C. Williams School of Law. Active in the Chesapeake community, he is a member and former chairman of the Chesapeake Airport Authority, serves on the TowneBank Advisory Board and is a member and former president of Chesapeake Ducks Unlimited.

Ben Hubbard is of counsel to the firm, concentrating his practice in the areas of construction law and mediation and arbitration. He represents commercial and industrial contracting firms performing federal, state, local and private market construction contracting. He also serves as an alternative dispute resolution arbitrator and mediator.

Ben Hubbard has been included in Virginia Super Lawyers, Virginia’s Legal Elite and Coastal Virginia’s Top Lawyers. He received his undergraduate degree from the College of Williams & Mary and his Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School. A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Ben also served for six years in the Virginia Army National Guard. In the community, Ben has been an active member of American Legion Post 35 and has served as a former commander and executive board member. He has lectured on contract law at Tidewater Community College and Norfolk City Schools Technical Center.
