The Bulldogs were able to win the city title Tuesday night at home with a 77-72 win over Lakeland High School.
The Cavs didn’t make it easy for the King’s Fork High School Bulldogs. With the win, King’s Fork won the series over both Nansemond River High School and Lakeland High School to claim the city title. They totaled five wins against both teams combined.
Keontae Boyette, a former Lakeland basketball standout, had 29 points against his former team. James Hatton had 20 points on Senior Night and added 13 rebounds. Clint Wright Jr. and Keimari Artis went for 23 and 21 points, respectively.
Both teams next wait to see their postseason fate in terms of seeding and opponents.
Lakeland has a chance to compete in the Class 3 Region A tournament but will face I.C. Norcom High School on the road at 7 p.m. Thursday. King’s Fork’s regular season has ended, and their next opponent is to be determined.
