A car collided with a building on Friday in the 100 block of West Washington Street.

The driver, an adult male, reportedly suffered a “medical emergency” and backed into the building, according to an email from city spokesman Tim Kelley.

The driver was taken by ground ambulance to Sentara Obici Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The building suffered minor damage but was determined to be “structurally sound” by a Planning & Community Development Department inspector, Kelley said.

The accident remains under investigation.
