More North Suffolk retail space coming

Small businesses will soon have an opportunity for greater exposure on a long stretch of North Suffolk road.
Outland Contracting LLC has finished about 70 percent of a 5,000-square-foot retail and office building at 5501 Bennetts Pasture Road, according to Arthur Bradshaw, owner of Home Video Studio/ProMedia Video Services in Suffolk.
Bradshaw said he expects the building to be finished by the end of March.
“It’s moving along pretty good,” he said, with roofing, brickwork and electrical work still on the agenda.
The property is owned by BLR of Suffolk LLC. Bradshaw’s father and one of the BLR partners, J. Dwight Bradshaw, has operated Bradshaw Dentistry at the site for more than 40 years.
The younger Bradshaw’s video production business has grown from a part-time job in 2010 to a full-time enterprise. Clients come for video editing and to transfer dated media to current digital formats, in addition to corporate assignments and aerial photography with drones.
More clients require more space, which is why Bradshaw will occupy one of the four units in the new building. There will also be additional parking spaces and a charging station for electric cars.
Two of the other units are also taken by tenants Bradshaw declined to disclose at this point, leaving one 1,150 square foot space left, Bradshaw said.
He explained that the building offers great exposure for small businesses, with passing cars on Bennetts Pasture Road, regular patients at his father’s dental office and even more when the new businesses open.
“This is going to generate some foot traffic, and what we’d like to have is something else in there that’s going to generate even more foot traffic,” he said.
