Bulldogs host Tigers in big matchup

The Bulldogs boys’ basketball team will look for redemption against Oscar Smith High School on Friday.
The Tigers and Bulldogs will meet for an exciting regular season matchup at 7 p.m. at King’s Fork. By record, Oscar is among the top two teams in the Southeastern District. Oscar Smith took the first meeting between the two teams 77-41. The Bulldogs don’t want to let that happen at home. It is the first game of the week for King’s Fork due to exams.
To be successful this time around, Bulldogs coach Rick Hite believes that they will need to put together two halves this time around.
“In the first game we played a good first half, and then their transition play blew the game open in the second half,” Hite said. “The biggest thing will be don’t allow them to get out in transition. We can’t let them get their juices flowing.”
Oscar Smith is a well-coached team, and the Bulldogs didn’t respond the way they had hoped to in the first game. The regular season is starting to wind down, so a good showing and possible win Friday night could provide something good for the Bulldogs heading into the postseason.
“Everyone is gearing up to start their playoff run,” Hite said. “I tell my guys control what we can control. We have to make sure we take care of our exams the right way and are practicing the right way and when we get to the games, we compete. We are going to treat this game like a playoff game.”
