Two fires displace families

Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews were kept busy with two fires around the same time Saturday afternoon.
The first fire was reported at 4:14 p.m. in the 300 block of Page Place, according to a city press release. Units arrived to find the two-story home fully engulfed in flames. The blaze was marked under control at 4:54 p.m.
Two adults and one dog were home at the time of the fire, but there were no injuries to the occupants or to fire personnel. The occupants will receive American Red Cross assistance after having been displaced from their home.
The second fire was reported at 4:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of Sierra Drive, a city press release stated.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames showing from the rear of the home. Four adults were at home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries, but one occupant was transported to a local hospital to acquire needed medical supplies that were not able to be recovered from the home.
The occupants were displaced and will receive American Red Cross assistance.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of both fires, the press releases said.
