In the weekly top 20 regional rankings by the Virginia High School League, two Suffolk teams remain in the top five.
King’s Fork High School moved from fourth up to second in the top 20 rankings in the 4A region. They are currently 4-1 after defeating rival Nansemond River High School last Friday. The Bulldogs could very well be 5-0 if it were not for a last-second touchdown by Western Branch High School, which gave the Bulldogs their only loss of the season to this point.
After starting 3-0, the Warriors have lost their last two games but remain in the top five of the 5A regional rankings. They went from fourth last week back to fifth this week.
Lakeland High School is currently ranked No. 11 in the 3A top 20 regional rankings.
Nansemond River will face Oscar Smith High School Friday, while King’s Fork will face Great Bridge High School. Lakeland will face Deep Creek High School.
