A Suffolk start-up company is selling its cozy product to support hurricane Harvey and Irma recovery efforts.
Spice of Life Ventures LLC will donate 100 percent of profits from purchases of its Cradling Sleeper product this September to hurricane relief organizations Samaritan’s Purse, UNICEF USA and Direct Relief. Cradling Sleeper is a molded, side-sleeping pillow that cradles your torso in a relaxed and comfortable position for better sleep.
“We’ll take months out of profits, but hopefully it will be a great campaign that helps a bunch of people out,” said Steve Whear, Spice of Life Ventures LLC owner.
Whear said he and his partner, Armando Velasquez, are open to continuing their campaign into October. Given the strength of this hurricane season, with Hurricane Maria devastating Puerto Rico, they want to set an example for other companies to follow, he said.
“It’s important for business leaders to get involved and use their assets to give back to the community as much as they can,” he said. “I really hope that our small donation into this will go toward food, shelter and clothing for people in their time of need. I know I would really want it if I were in their shoes.”
