Fire damages downtown house

An unoccupied home caught fire early Monday morning in downtown Suffolk.
The fire in the 300 block of Pinner Street was reported at 1:25 a.m., and the first units arrived on scene four minutes later. They found the back of the two-story, single-family residence on fire. They were able to defeat the fire quickly, preventing it from entering the main portion of the residence.
The fire was called under control at 1:45 a.m. with no injuries. The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
