Pilot uninjured in crash

The pilot was uninjured in a crash in southern Suffolk on Saturday, Virginia State Police confirmed on Monday.
The crash occurred in the 2500 block of Greenway Road, State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya said Monday.
The pilot, Robert Gray Jr., of the 100 block of Gene Avenue, Suffolk, suffered no injuries, Anaya said. He was flying a Piper PA-28-180 fixed-wing aircraft when he attempted to land on a grass runway, lost control and struck several trees.
The crash was reported at 7:54 p.m., city spokesman Tim Kelley said on Saturday.
The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified, Anaya stated.
