A young girl was taken to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters with non life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car in the parking lot of the North Suffolk Library Thursday morning.
The girl, whom authorities said was 3 or 4 years old, ran from the library into the parking lot, with her mother calling for her to stop, at about 10:57 a.m., according to Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink. The girl ran into the passenger side of a Nissan Armada that was driving slowly through the lot, Klink stated in a press release.
The child was assessed and treated at the library by Suffolk Fire and Rescue personnel and was taken by ambulance to the Norfolk hospital.
The accident is under investigation, but the driver is not expected to be charged, Klink stated in the release.
