Burnetha M. McCrea 93, of Indian Point Road, Suffolk, transitioned Saturday, May 27, 2017, at her residence. She was a native of Andrews, S.C., and the daughter of the late West McClary and Alice Wilson McClary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin McCrea Sr.; son, Alvin McCrea Jr.; brothers, Jack Wilson and Eddie McClary.
She retired from Planters Peanut Company after 36 years. She was a member of Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess, member of the senior choir, Mays-Barnes Missionary Circle and adult choir.
She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Susie McCrea Phillips, of Absecon, N.J., Deloris J. Bost, of Atlantic City, N.J., Alice Graves, of Suffolk, and Janevie Brooks (John), of Bowie, Md.; one son, James McCrea (Marie), of Suffolk; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Daniel House. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
