Sevella Wilson Barcliff, 70, known to many as “Vell,” went to her home in glory with the Lord on May 17, 2017, surrounded by her caring family. Born July 9, 1946, in Nansemond County, she was the third of five children of the late John Lee and Victoria Elizabeth Wilson. Sevella was a 1964 valedictorian graduate of East Suffolk High School and a proud graduate of Virginia State University, where she obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Sevella was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a compassionate, loving and devoted servant of God who will surely be missed by those who were touched by her giving heart.

Sevella leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Michele Barcliff Glover (James) and Deborah Barcliff King (Franklyn); one grandchild, Michael John Barcliff (Karla); four siblings, Mary Copeland (Leon), Virnest Wilson (Betty), Victoria Holliman (Rev. Nonnie) and Rev. Kevin Wilson (Ollie) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

Viewing will be held at E. Vaughn Wray Funeral Establishment on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m., and homegoing services will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Norfolk at 11 a.m.
