Curtis Dale Rekkedal

Curtis Dale Rekkedal, 67, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Curtis was born in Devils Lake, N.D. He served in the United States Navy for four years, including two tours in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1971. He married Sandra L. Wing Aug. 10, 1974, in her hometown of Mandan, N.D. They had five children and lived in Devils Lake until 1999, then moving to Suffolk, where their children joined them.
Curt had a 20-year career at UPS. After an injury, he returned to trucking, retiring in February 2017 after a total of 50 years and an estimated five million miles on the road.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra; daughters, Macey Ann Olenjack, Hally Kay (Ligon) Mouring and husband, Jeff; sons, Curtis Dean and wife, Sandra Kay (Shereck), Jory Cole and wife, Kathryn Marie (Ciotti), Tanis Donald; grandchildren, Shelby Olenjack, Riley Ligon, Jon Mouring, Lillee Ann Mouring, Curtis James Rekkedal, Chase Rekkedal, June Rekkedal, Evelyn Rekkedal, and step-grandchild, Megan Mouring.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 213 N. Main St., Suffolk, with the Rev. Keith Emmerson officiating.
